Subject: Bernoulli®
Mike, I wanted to share a quick story with you. As you are
aware we place the Bernoulli® Ventilator Alarm system in our
long term Ventilator unit. Well it paid for itself in the
first week.
We have a 26 year old ventilator dependent quadriplegic with
slight mobility in his fingers on his right hand. (just enough
to trigger the call bell). The nursing staff had finished with
his nightly routine, turned on his fan and stereo and said
their good nights. Around 30 minutes later the respiratory
therapist received a disconnect alarm for this patient. He
promptly responded to the alarm and found the patient had
become disconnected and that the call button had slipped out
of the patients reach.
Because of the volume of his stereo and the noise from his fan
his audible alarms could not be heard. This patient is unable
to support spontaneous respirations and a potential grave
situation was avoided thanks to the Bernoulli® alarm system.
Mike, you and the rest of your staff should be proud of the
products you put out. You may never know how many lives you
have actually saved but here’s one.
