Introduction
Bernoulli is a unique product that provides caregivers with the ability to access and use data from multiple medical devices for both real-time analysis and remote alarm management. As the reality of a fully connected hospital gets closer, the importance of medical device data being incorporated into existing hospital information systems(HIS) and Electronic Medical Records(EMR) systems is coming to the forefront. Thus from a workflow perspective, Bernoulli is able to populate patient records digitally, saving countless hours of previously manual processes.

What is Bernoulli?
At the core of Bernoulli is a central station monitoring system for hospital clinicians that is technology-neutral, allowing multiple bedside devices from different manufacturers to be connected and monitored simultaneously. Bernoulli is a set of software modules introduced in October 2002 that has gained rapid acceptance because it is vendor neutral, with an open architecture. To date, over 125 device interfaces have already developed, enabling various hospital units to simply plug and play with their existing devices.

What is Bernoulli Enterprise?
Bernoulli Enterprise is what we call our complete connectivity solution. We take our services further by looking at the device types you intend to monitor and designing a solution that fits your needs. Everything from capturing the data to delivering the data to existing systems via HL7.

Who uses Bernoulli?
Currently in use at over 400 locations in the United States, Bernoulli is used by leading institutions such as Duke University Medical Center, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. More specifically, respiratory therapists can use Bernoulli for Ventilation Management, while trauma centers and ICU units can use Bernoulli for pain management (Oximetry, EtCO2, and Vital Signs Monitoring). Hospital IT staff will quickly understand the benefit of Bernoulli's HL7 data exchange, while physicians can utilize the waveform dashboard to analyze patient trends in real-time, either at the workstation or remotely.

How does Bernoulli work?
For most device types, a client bridge is attached to each device to transmit patient information to a central workstation. Once activated, remote patient monitoring begins. The system can be setup with smart alarms based on thresholds that each caregiver determines for each situation. For example, if a RT is monitoring a patient on a Puritan Bennet 840 ventilator, he may want to be immediately notified either by pager, on screen alarm, or audio alarm (or all 3) if the patient's low minute volume alarm is violated.

What is a typical Bernoulli installation?
Cardiopulmonary Corp. provides complete project support to carry the deployment of Bernoulli from inception to completion as seamlessly as possible. Our goal is to handle all the details for you, with a project team built from our Service and Support department, our Engineering department, Manufacturing department and Training Department. We develop the timetable and installation plan required to complete the project, and then we follow through with the plan. A typical Bernoulli project will include a site survey, network design, equipment configuration (validation and testing), onsite installation, training, and post implementation support.

Does Bernoulli require it's own network?
Working with the appropriate staff in your organization, we will design the Bernoulli network to work within your facility’s infrastructure while providing optimal Bernoulli software performance. We can take advantage of existing networks or we can install our own network in order to complete the deployment. Bernoulli can be deployed on either a wired or wireless network.

What devices does Bernoulli work with?
Currently we have over 125 device interfaces already developed. For a complete list, click here. This means that most of the mainstream medical devices being used today are monitored. Our goal with Bernoulli is to be technology-neutral, allowing us to connect to any device from any manufacturer. If we do not currently support a device in your hospital, let us know and we will work with you to support it.

Is there Bernoulli training available?
Our training personnel will work with your hospital staff to develop and schedule a training program for the use of the Bernoulli software.
